Rickie Lee Jones makes her long overdue return to Australian shores.
The highly influential, Grammy Award winning, multi-million selling US singer-songwriter, performs this May/June. Tickets on sale Monday April 12.
Rickie Lee Jones will be showcasing tracks from her 14th and latest studio album Balm In Gilead (Universal Music, 2009) and well as tracks from her extensive back catalogue.
The album encapsulates a generation’s experiences through life, moving with ease and deft versatility across styles and influences - roots, cinematic western, urban blues, jazz and of course folk rock.
Rickie Lee Jones, the self-titled debut album was released in 1979, the same year Rickie made her debut TV appearance on Saturday Night Live and her career leap into life with a successful world tour and cover of Rolling Stone magazine, The album, a multi-million selling hit, features the classic Chuck E’s In Love and earned five Grammy nominations including Best New Artist which was won in 1980.
Many more albums followed amongst them Pirates, Girl At Her Volcano, Flying Cowboys, Pop Pop, Traffic From Paradise, and It’s Like This which earned Rickie an 8th Grammy nomination.
Joining Rickie on stage will be Jose Maramba - electric bass & vocals - and Lionel Cole - drums, percussion & keys.
