KING CRIMSON

IN THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KING

DGM/DIDGERIDOO

1969 was a memorable year for album releases. Great diversity existed as musicians continued to pursue styles that would become synonymous with them. Stand (Sly & The Family Stone), The Band, Hot Rats (Frank Zappa), Crosby, Stills & Nash, Let It Bleed (The Rolling Stones), Led Zeppelin, Abbey Road (The Beatles), New York Tendaberry (Laura Nyro), Green River (Creedence Clearwater Revival), all came out in the last year of the ‘60’s.

So too did the debut for King Crimson, a London based quartet of virtuoso musicians who would raise the bar for prog rock bands of the day with an extraordinary album that featured mellotron, guitar and songs full of psychedelic imagery.

‘In The Court Of The Crimson King’ was first released in the U.K. on October 12th 1969.

The original masters – with splicing tape still present between the various songs and the segue between ‘I Talk To The Wind’ and ‘Epitaph’ yet to be created – were discovered in the Virgin archives in 2003.

A re-mastered version was released in September 2004 with archival press reviews and photos.  It is now available through Didgeridoo Records.
